Abstract
This case report is about orthodontic treatment of maxilla deficiency by using a face mask in a growing child with skeletal Class III malocclusion with bilateral congenitally missing maxillary canines and closure of both missing maxillary canine spaces by the mesial movement of the posterior teeth. Maintaining the anterior overjet in patients with bilateral congenitally missing maxillary canines was difficult. During the 6-year retention period, proper anterior overjet was maintained by using a myo-functional appliance as a retainer. Appropriate skeletal treatment is very important for growing skeletal Class III patients, and the use of a myo-functional appliance as a retainer can be a good option for growing patients who have various growth-related variables after the end of first phase treatment.
